Our big project this winter was installing a fireplace in our basement. Luckily I have a very handy Father who we hired for this project. I think he did a fantastic job! It turned out so beautiful and we couldn't be happier with it.

Tuck's New Booster Seat

My husband at first thought I was crazy when I told him that I wanted to get our new puppy, Tucker, a booster seat for the car. It is a safer way for him to ride with us without being in his crate. I think he loves it. I got his booster seat from www.dogbedsandcrates.com. It was only $39.99 with Free Shipping. I thought it was a great deal.

On the way to pick up Hayden from Preschool. Tucker was just checking everything out.

He got tired and decided to just lay down. I looked over and he was just looking at me with those beautiful brown eyes.

Blah Tuesday

Today has been a very yucky rainy day. Luckily we missed all of the bad weather that is wrecking havoc across the midwest and north. My heart goes out to my friends who live in those states. I hope they stay safe.

This morning I tried Zumba for the first time since moving back to Kentucky from California. It was AWESOME!! I totally understand why they phrase it "join the party." It was so much fun. I have never sweat so much during a workout, yet felt so energized. I cannot wait until next Tuesday!

My son, Hayden, will start Kindergarten this fall. Our school district is not the best and my husband and I are really beginning to think about schools. He is in the lottery for Maxwell's Spanish Immersion Program. I am praying really hard that he gets accepted. If he doesn't, we will probably enroll him into Lexington Christian Academy. I am trying to find a part time job to help with the additional cost of him going to private school. I would love to be able to find a paralegal part time job, but the market is so tight. Just keep us in your thoughts. Thank you.

Meet Tucker, the newest member to our family. I knew I would end up raising three boys. :-)

Tucker is a Cockapoo/Maltipoo mix. He is 3 months old. When I went to Ft. Mitchell to get him, he just melted my heart the moment I saw him. The boys are so excited about their new puppy.

Happy Halloween Ya'll. We had a wonderful Halloween this year. Both boys really enjoyed going trick-or-treating and getting a lot of candy.

Four years ago I was blessed with such an adorable little baby boy. It is so hard to believe that my baby boy is now four. Hayden had a magical time celebrating his fourth birthday with all of his friends.

He loved the trampoline that Mommy and Daddy got him.

For Father's Day we went camping at Levi Jackson State Park in London, KY. It was a really beautiful park with tons of hiking trails and nature all around. The kids and dad had a great weekend.

Hayden's Swim Lessons

This summer I enrolled Hayden into swimming lessons at Transylvania University here in Lexington. He did such a good job. I am planning on enrolling him again this Fall and Spring.

The first time he jumped off of the diving board he didn't hesitate one bit. I believe it is because he didn't know what to expect. The second time, not so much. He really wanted to do it but needed a little assistance from one of the other swim coaches.

Like dropping a lead ball into the water.

I thought he would never pop back up. He is lean, but solid as a rock. When he made it to the ladder he kept saying, "I was so brave."

Memorial Day Weekend - Birthday Weekend

Memorial Day weekend we went camping in Pigeon Forge, TN. It was also my birthday weekend so I wanted to do a little retail therapy at the outlets since I was hitting the big 35! We camped at a wonderful place called, Up The Creek RV Camp. Just four miles from the main road in Pigeon Forge. It was perfect. Just enough out of town to relax from the noise, but close enough that you didn't feel like you were driving forever to get to the outlets.

Our campsite was nestled between trees. It was wonderful.

The campground was surrounded by two creeks. Hayden and Conor enjoyed going down to the creek bank to throw in rocks or just to wade in the water.

This is our new home away from home. We love to camp and it was either a new boat or a camper. I voted for a new camper. I think the kids are just a tad too young for a boat right now. This is a 33Ft. Laredo by Keystone.

Today we celebrated our little man's 1st Birthday. We are so blessed to have such a beautiful and funny little boy.

We had a great time camping with our friends. Three couples came out to visit us, but there were nine couples camping. There were 20 kids camping (21, but one little guy got sick and had to go home).

I hope you and your family had a very blessed Easter. We couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was just perfect. We celebrated by going to Northeast Christian Church and listening to one of the best messages we have heard in a long time. Then my family came over to grill out burgers and hot dogs. The kids had a blast running around in the backyard looking for Easter eggs. Next year Conor will have to keep up with the big kids.

Spring Break

This past week the kids were out of school for Spring Break. We couldn't have asked for a better week of nothing but sunshine and warm weather. To celebrate their week we enjoyed some quality time outside, a trip to the Louisville, KY zoo, and a train ride on the Big South Fork Scenic Railway.

Pre-Registration for Preschool

Today was the day for pre-registration for Hayden's preschool. Our goal was to get into the 4 year old 5 day class. I have heard from friends that it is CRAZY! Doors open up at 7:30 a.m. You receive a number. At 9:15 a.m. they begin calling numbers for you to register your child. There were only 24 spots for the 5 day class.

My friend told me that she was getting to the school at 5:30 a.m. Just to make sure my son got into the class with his friends, I got up at 4:45 a.m. and was at the school by 5:15 a.m. THIS IS FOR PRESCHOOL! Makes me laugh. Guess what number I was? NUMBER 1 BABY! I was so thrilled. My friend was number 6. By 5:45 there were already 15 people on the list. By 6:45 there were close to 50.

I have been so stressed out over this pre-registration. Thank goodness it only comes once a year. School starts in September.

Unfortunately, I have to do this all over again with Conor. He is worth it though.

Snow Day

Do you remember those wonderful Snow Days as a child? The snow falling, the hope that school will be cancelled, the shear enjoyment of running out and playing in fresh powder. The east coast got some snow this past weekend and we all enjoyed a little bit of snow play.

Friday, January 8th, the boys and I enjoyed a few free moments in the snow. Hayden had been begging me since Thursday morning, when the snow first started to fall, if he could go out and play in it.
This is Conor's impression of the younger brother in A Christmas Story - "I can't get up! I can't get up! Ralphie!! I can't get up Ralphie!"

New Year Resolution

I hope everyone had a Happy and Safe New Year. One of my New Year resolutions is to be more active with my blog. I feel like I have neglected it since moving back to Kentucky from California. Maybe because in California we were creating adventures every weekend where being at home in Kentucky it doesn't feel much like an adventure. I need to make each day seem like an adventure for my kids.

My husband and I have come up with some resolutions for the family. These are taped to our refrigerator. In no specific order -

1. Make Faith a Focus!
2. Get & Stay Healthy!
3. Show Respect and a positive attitude in all we say and do. It will be infectious with the whole family.
4. Get the house organized and stay organized.
5. Focus on Family

So to everyone out there I wish you very Happy New Year.

Hayden's First Day of Preschool

Hayden's first day at Crossroads Christian Preschool. He was so excited. Makes me sad that my little guy is growing up so quickly. He goes two days a week. I tried to get him into the three day a week class, but it was already full. I registered him back in January. Crazy, I know.

Saturday we went to the UK v. Miami of OH game in Cincinnati at the Bengals stadium. We spent the night in Cincy and enjoyed the evening with our friends. This was UK's first blow out since 1996. The final score was 42-0. GO CATS!!

Destin Vacation - Part 1

We truly enjoyed our vacation to Destin Beach, Florida. We haven't been on a vacation since moving back from California. Hayden was so excited to be at the beach. The whole week before leaving he asked me every day if I would build a sandcastle with him. The drive to Destin wasn't as bad as you would think. Especially with a toddler who is potty training. It took us about 12 hours. That includes bathroom breaks and over an hour for lunch. We will definitely be going back to Destin. It was simply beautiful.

Can't wait to get on that beach.

Today a group of us visited one of our local fire departments. Hayden loves Fire Trucks and I thought this would be a good way for the kids to see the trucks and Fire House up close. They all had a great time.

Reed Valley Orchard - Paris, Kentucky

Today the boys and I went to Reed Valley Orchard in Paris, Kentucky to pick blackberries with our friends. We had such a great time. With our blackberries, I baked a wonderful cobbler and froze the rest for smoothies.

Our goodies from the Orchard. We picked the blackberries and purchased the rest. The peaches were a "Flat Yummy" peach and yes, they were very yummy! The blueberry butter is so wonderful. I bought some bread and butter pickles for my mom, but after opening them kept them for myself. She didn't mind.

Conor - 3 Months

I cannot believe my baby will be 3 months old on the 24th. Tonight I took Conor and Hayden to Picture People to have some pictures made. They were so good. For being such a good boy, Mom took Hayden to the "Mickey Mouse" (Disney) Store for a present. He was so excited.

This past weekend we went camping at Fort Boonesborough. It was the perfect weekend. It was low to mid 70s during the days and nice and crisp of the nights. It reminded Trever and I so much of camping in California.

We had a large group of friends camping with us. Total we had 8 families. It was so much fun and Hayden truly had a great time!

Fun Day at the Pool

It was such a beautiful day that we decided to meet our friends at one of Lexington's public pools, Tates Creek Aquatic Center. Hayden had a great time playing with his friends and his cousins, Jack and Reagan.

Fire Pit Project

Trever and I are in the process of building a fire pit. We were going to put it down by the creek, but decided it would be best next to the lower patio area. It took us all day just to dig the fire pit. The grass surrounding the fire pit will be pulled up and replaced with stone pavers for a nice sitting area. Once it is all finished it will be beautiful.

We went to Boyd's Orchard to pick blackberries and peaches with the kids. Unfortunately, nothing was ready for harvest. The kids had a lot of fun regardless. I think we had about 14 kids in our group. Hayden is truly blessed to have so many friends his own age.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July to all. May we remember our men and women in the military and wish for a safe journey home. May we also reflect on what it means to be an American. We are truly blessed to live in this country.

Saturday morning we went downtown to enjoy the festivities. We also stopped off at the Farmer's Market for some fresh veggies to make some homemade salsa. Our Farmer's Market is nice, but it doesn't compare to the Farmer's Market in Pleasanton, CA where we lived last year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAYDEN

Yesterday for Hayden's birthday I took him to Chuck-E-Cheese with his cousins, Jack and Reagan. They all had a great time. Then Hayden and I went to Toys-R-Us to spend his birthday money which he bought more Geo Trax trains and tracks. For his birthday he received a Build-A-Bear gift card so we had to stop off at the mall on the way home and pick up his new friend, Pandy, the Panda Bear.

Hayden's 3rd Birthday Party

We celebrated Hayden's birthday on Saturday. He had such a great time. We had a Slip-N-Slide, a pool for the little ones, a Sprinkler Ball, a Water Gun Station, and a small Bounce Castle. The weather was beautiful. Just wish it was a tad cooler. I think we hit over the 90s that day and then you add that wonderful Kentucky humidity on top of that.

I was thankful that we got our yard fenced in before his party. There were 22 kids and 28 adults. Next year Mom thinks it will be held someplace else.

Here Rea Rea let me help you. (This is Hayden's cousin, Reagan). Some Hot Tub fun. We ended up draining the Hot Tub the next day and cleaning out the filter.

Here are some random pictures of Conor. He is getting so big. I cannot believe he is already two months old. Where has the time gone?

My little Chunk Monkey. For those who do not know, he did not break his leg. His foot was positioned under my ribs for the longest time and we are in the process of turning his foot back to the position it should be. It is looking a lot better. We go every two weeks to have a new cast put on. This is his fourth cast and we will probably do two more.

Potty Training 101

I am in the process of potty training Hayden. He will be 3 on June 29th. I was afraid to even press the issue before Conor was born. Although he has been going for months when asked this is the first time we have actually put him in "Big Boy" undies.

Saturday was a great day to go to the Kentucky Horse Park for Family Fun Day. My sister and brother-in-law were camping there so Hayden was excited to spend some time with his cousins, Jack and Reagan.

Date Night - We went to The Penguin, a dueling piano bar, with our friends for my birthday. We all had a great "adult" evening. It was the first time Trever and I had been on a date in forever. It was nice for this new momma to get out and cut loose.

3 More Weeks

Today marks 3 weeks left. Our c-section is scheduled for May 4th (my 40 week mark is May 13). I have started to swell more and feeling more miserable. Hayden was born at 37 weeks so we will see. Saturday and Sunday I felt like my legs and feet looked like Fred Flinstone feet. I go back to the doctor this week. Probably from here on out I will be going every week.

Keep us in your thoughts as we are nearing the end. Thank goodness.

Hayden really enjoyed Easter. The Easter Bunny came to our house a day early. I had to be at church early Easter morning to help out and didn't want all of us rushing around. I wanted him to be able to enjoy his gifts from the Easter Bunny.

He wasn't too sure about this bunny. To be honest, I wasn't either. He was so excited to see Santa but did not want to sit on the lap of a Giant Rabbit. I told him that if he would just sit there and smile I would take him to the Mickey Mouse store (the Disney Store). Well, at least he just sat there. Poor little guy.

After visiting the Easter Bunny he was given a set of bunny ears. He told me, "I happy now."

He was so excited to see his gifts from the Easter Bunny. This is a bubble gun that I am sure will get a lot of use.

He loves Lightening McQueen. The Easter Bunny got him a thermos with Lightening McQueen on it and a shake-and-go racer that was Lightening McQueen.

Each Easter my grandmother would bake us a homemade bunny cake. Well my cakes are semi-homemade. They were made at home, but came from a Betty Crocker box. Next year I am going to tackle homemade bunnies. This is a tradition I want to start with my kids.

I made the chocolate bunny just in case people didn't care for coconut. The grass was edible as well.

4 More Weeks

Today marks my four week mark until our scheduled c-section on May 4th. I hope and pray I can make it until May 4th. I will be 39 weeks then. Hayden was born at 37 weeks so we are crossing our fingers. I have packed my hospital bag and the baby's diaper bag. I still need to pack a bag of fun things for Hayden. My in-laws will be staying with Hayden while we are in the hospital. I am excited for him to come to the hospital and visit us each day.

Continue to keep us in your thoughts as we prepare for this next step in our family. Lord help me as I will be surrounded by boys.

Finished Playset

Hayden's "play park" as he calls it, is finally finished. We got play sand for his Turtle sandbox and his tarp roof arrived Saturday. I have a feeling that my days will be spent outside this year. That is okay. The smile on his face is enough for me.

Milestone

I made it to 34 weeks without having to go on bed rest. This is a milestone considering I was on bed rest with Hayden at 33 weeks. I had my check-up yesterday and everything went well. I did have the doctor examine me because of some constant back pains and lower abdominal pains. Everything was fine, which is good. The doctor told me to drink more water, I already feel like I am drinking like 100 gallons a day, and rest as much as I can. So most of my days will be me on the couch. This will be hard as I have a two year old who requires my attention. May 4th couldn't come any faster for me.

Hayden's New "Play Park"

This playset belonged to my sister and her family, but it has been over to my mom's house for the past three years because they just do not have the yard for it. The grandkids seldom go to my mom's house anymore so they gave the playset to us. We were planning on buying Hayden one this year, but when you can get one for free that is even better.

We power washed it, stained it, and Hayden has been having a good old time ever since. We have a tarp ordered and should be here soon for the top of the fort.

5 More Weeks

Yesterday marked my 5 week mark until the baby is born. Our c-section is scheduled for May 4th (I will be 39 weeks). My mom is a little nervous because she is leaving for Florida this Friday with my sister's family for Spring Break. I promised her that I would take it easy and drink plenty of water.

Tomorrow I will be 34 weeks. This is a milestone for me because at 33 weeks I was put on bed rest with Hayden. I am thankful that this pregnancy has been different in that I do not have the swelling like I did with Hayden.

I am counting the days until May 4th. I am so ready for this little guy to be born.

Big Boy Beds

With a new baby coming we thought it would make more sense to just order Hayden a new bedroom suit instead of ordering a new nursery set for the baby. We ordered these full size bunk beds sight unseen, and we are extremely pleased with the quality.

The only set back we had was once they arrived two weeks ago, only one set of bed rails arrived with the beds. We had to wait another week to get the extra rails in. During this time, Trever put together one bed to get Hayden use to sleeping in a "big boy bed." Knock on wood, he has been doing extremely well. He doesn't get up of the nights and when he does get up in the mornings he plays in his room.

Hard Economic Times

7 More Weeks

Yesterday I had my 32 week check-up with the OB. We are still scheduled for May 4th at 12:00 p.m. for the c-section. I will be 39 weeks then. Everything is going well. We had an ultrasound yesterday and the baby weighs about 4 lbs 3 oz. I have some slight swelling, but nothing like I had with Hayden. Reaching 33 weeks will be a milestone for me. At 33 weeks with Hayden, I was put on bed rest. I am trying my hardest not to let that happen. Right now things are going well. I have trouble sleeping, but who doesn't when you are 8 months pregnant. My lower back gets to me every now and then so I have to remind myself to rest more. Thanks for all of your warm thoughts. We cannot wait to meet this little guy.

Disney on Ice

Today I took Hayden to see Disney on Ice. I was a little nervous about taking him since he is only 2, but he truly enjoyed himself. I went with some of my friends and their boys as well as my sister and my niece, Reagan. It was truly a day that I will never forget with Hayden.

Last night my dearest friends here at home gave me a baby shower at Bar Louie. I am so thankful and appreciative of their time and their consideration. I received so many nice things. One friend made a wall hanging based on the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The book, the wall hanging, and her Congrats card all matched. It was very thoughtful. Looking at these wonderful women last night made me feel so very blessed to have them in my life. To share stories of our children, concerns, and joys. To know that my boys will have close friends to call their own, as many of our children are the same age. God has truly blessed me.

Thank you ladies. You all will always have a very dear and near spot in my heart.

7 1/2 Months

Man, I am so ready for this baby to be born. This last trimester is really playing a toll on me. I know what you are thinking, "Is she having twins?" Unfortunately I have no more room for this baby to grow, but out. The life of a 5' 4" tall woman. We are so excited and anxious to meet our new little man. I go back to the doctor tomorrow and hopefully we will have a date scheduled for the c-section. (For those who may not know, I had to have a c-section with Hayden so this one will be scheduled). It is still odd for me to pick my son's birthday, but it is what it is.

We haven't started on the baby's room because we are still waiting for Hayden's new bunk beds to arrive. His crib converts to a full size bed, but we thought he would enjoy bunk beds. Hopefully those should arrive this week.

We will keep everyone up to date on our progress. Continue to keep me and the baby in your thoughts as we are nearing the end.

Hand's On Museum - Ann Arbor, MI

Trever had to travel to Ann Arbor, MI for work on Wednesday, so Hayden and I decided to take a road trip. The drive wasn't that bad. It is only 5 1/2 - 6 hours from Lexington. We stopped off in Jeffersonville, OH to do a little therapy shopping at the outlets. Of course, when you are 7 1/2 months pregnant you don't really enjoy looking at clothes that do not fit you. I did find some deals for Hayden and our upcoming baby boy.

Thursday morning Hayden and I decided to travel outside of the hotel to the Hand's On Museum. If you live near or in Ann Arbor, this is a great science kid's museum. Hayden and I had a blast.

Cabela's - Dundee, MI

On our drive home from Michigan, we stopped off at the Cabela's store in Dundee, MI. I have never been in a Cabela's store, but this thing was massive. The stuffed animal displays were unbelievable.

This is a huge mountain in the middle of the store. There are a ton of stuffed animals surrounding and climbing the mountain. In the middle of the mountain is a waterfall.

Hayden loved looking at the bear, after we told him that it was not alive.

Also in the store is a fresh water aquarium. Hayden really enjoyed looking at the fish and turtles.

Fun in the Snow

Today was yet another school "snow day." My mother brought my nephew, Jack, and my niece, Reagan, over to play with Hayden. After a morning of the two little ones screaming, fighting, and crying, we decided to get the kids outside for a little snow time. All of the "bad behavior" went away and they all had a great time.

6 1/2 Months and Growing

Time seems to be flying by with this pregnancy. We are coming up on our 7 month mark. Pretty soon I will have to schedule my c-section. It seems weird to me that I will be picking out my son's birthday, but it has to be this way. Seems like I am getting as wide as I am tall. I have already experienced some Braxton Hicks with this pregnancy. I am sure I did with Hayden, but just didn't know what they were. Also, the baby is laying on my sciatic nerve causing pain in my left leg. In the mornings and when I sit for a period of time, I can barely walk. I am just praying that I can make it through these next few months without bed rest and too much swelling.

Just some facts I read online about this week's storm

525,000 electric customers out of power
2nd worst power outage in Kentucky history (#1 was winds from Hurricane Ike knocked out 600,000)
10,400 downed power lines, which was 1,000 more than in the 2003 ice storm
Tuesday saw a record rainfall of 1.72 inches in Lexington (This breaks the old record of 1.2 set in 1889)

Kentucky Ice Storm 2009

We have and are surviving the ice storm here in Kentucky. We are actually luckier than most here in the state. The bad weather started Monday night. Wednesday morning we lost electricity. Luckily, my sister still had power so we loaded up the family and spent the evening with them. Today I came back to the house to get more clothes and other supplies when the electric came back on. Knock on wood, it is still on.

I wanted to share with you some beautiful photos of ice and snow.

After the ice comes the snow. We received about 4 inches of snow on top of about 4 inches ice.

On such a cold day here in Kentucky, Hayden and I went to Chuck-E-Cheese to spend a couple of hours with our friends. Hayden had a great time playing with all of his little friends. His favorite thing was getting a Chuck-E-Cheese balloon before we left.

This past week Trever and I took Hayden to Gattitown. We were surprised at the amount of pizza he ate. His other place to eat pizza is Chuck-E-Cheese. It was such a nasty day that I wanted to take him and his cousin, Reagan, some place fun so we went to "Where a Kid can be a Kid."

Basement Update

Our bar cabinets have arrived and were installed today. The contractors still need to do some minor things tomorrow, but I wanted to post some pictures of the new cabinets. I think they are so beautiful. I cannot wait until everything is finished and we can actually entertain and play downstairs.

The painters are suppose to arrive to do the second coat on the baseboards so all of Hayden's toys have been pulled away from the walls.

This is Hayden's new toy cubby. I have had to move most of his new toys back upstairs so that he can have something to play with while the contractors are still working.

All of the cabinets above the countertop will have glass doors. We wanted to display all of our beautiful wine glasses from our year in California.

Happy New Year

New Year's eve we went over to our friend's house for some poker and good fun. All of the kids wore their jammies just in case they were to fall asleep. We didn't have a single child fall asleep before midnight. I was really surprised Hayden had the energy to stay up past midnight. I wish I had that much energy. He was such a little trooper.

Christmas Day - Santa has Arrived

We had such a wonderful Christmas. I am so thankful and blessed for my family and friends. Hayden is at the age now that he completely understands who Santa is. He had a blast this Christmas.

Everyone digging into the food. We had my family and Trever's family over. We also invited my brother-in-law's mother and brother as well. It was really nice to be surrounded by a lot of family and friends.

We were able to squeeze everyone around our dining room table. Not in the picture, but are at the table, are Trever's Dad, Charlie, and my brother-in-law, Jon.
